Sources, limits and data.

The four Starglass tools, the sources they read and the limits on your account.

Before your first session

Create your account, verify your email and turn on your trial. Then connect your AI app to https://aculeus.ai/api/mcp and sign in when it asks. Never paste a password or token into a prompt. Installing a plugin or connector doesn't create an account or start the trial.

The four tools

sources_list
Shows each source's coverage, availability and limits.
source_search
Searches one source you choose and returns record identifiers.
source_fetch
Returns a passage of the record with its URL, publisher, retrieval time, line range and fingerprint (sha256).
evidence_check
Checks quotes, fingerprints, line ranges and calculations you supply. It fetches nothing. A pass means they match. It doesn't certify the source's authenticity, completeness or meaning.

The tools can't fetch arbitrary URLs or write anything. No AI model or paid search sits behind them.

Sources

The tools search USAspending, SEC filings, FEC committee registrations, Congress, GovInfo, Senate lobbying disclosures and the NPPES provider registry. Starglass checks availability each session. Congress needs an exact reference. An empty search doesn't prove a record doesn't exist.

Your first question

Ask a narrow question about a public record.

Keep an evidence list in your AI app:

  • Cite the public URL and the line range.
  • Keep the fingerprint.
  • Keep supported facts apart from your reading of them.
  • Look for records that contradict you.

A search snippet or an empty result isn't enough evidence.

Limits

1,000 source requests per person each calendar month, reset on the 1st (UTC). Up to 60 requests a minute across your connected apps. Failed requests and retries count. A $5 Quick Answer allowance covers the whole trial, then each paid month. It's counted at what each answer costs us to run. Going over never adds a charge.

What Starglass keeps

Your account, your connected apps and a count of your requests. It doesn't store your searches or the returned text in a Starglass workspace. The official sources receive the search terms needed to answer each request. Your AI app decides how long it keeps the conversation. Starglass only works when your AI app calls it.

Status

Tested with Claude Code and ChatGPT on 2 Oct 2026, and with Codex on 4 Oct 2026. No approved directory listing yet. Connections don't renew automatically yet.

Revoke

Revoke an app in Research connections. Its next request is refused. Disconnect it in your AI app to clear its saved sign-in.
